Well, I drew a tag for area 5B - basically between SR87 and the lake Mary Road. I'm headed up Sunday to do a little scouting of the area. The season opens the first weekend of May...I've got 3 weekends to go hunting. I haven't been out after one since high school and I'm stoked about it.

The kind of country to hunt is along the edge of canyons. Oaks in the bottom of the canyons with pines along the top is ideal habitat. I've been looking over some Coconino Forest maps and have some ideas to explore just north of Clints Well.

Anybody seen any birds up in this area?

I see and hear turkeys all the time where we camp up on the rim by Forest Lakes in the summer.

I had no idea there were turkeys there. Just exactly how large is a AZ turkey?

I'm not exactly sure. How tall ARE you, Andy?

ten thousand comedians out of work...

We have merriams turkeys here...They range across most of the rocky mountain states. A good sized gobbler goes 22-24 lbs
