Okay this year we are going down on a Sunday, coming out on Tuesday May 14-16. Yes I know it is Mothers Day. Should have the place to ourselves and it is a few weeks later in the year. Plan is to miss any storms and it will be hotter on the hike out.

Anyone remotely interested in going, start walking now, we will be doing South Mountain regularly after the holidays, heck even if you arent going to Supai, South Mountain is a fun little morning hour well spent.

If you are not in the original group of 8, you know who you are, you need to make your own reservations. Tribe number is 1 928 448 2121 keep trying. Motel is The Historic Rte 66 Motel number is 1 928 422 3204 You will need a room for Saturday night.

South Mountain Telegraph Pass Hiking Trail begins Saturday the 21st of January Meet at the Altadena Middle School parking lot on Desert Foothills Parkway just North of Chandler Blvd at 9 a.m. Pecos rd West to Desert Breeze. North on Desert Foothills Parkway to the school on your left. Trailhead parking lot on Chandler Blvd and Sixth street fills easily. Plan on 1 hour total for the hike. RECOMMENDED you do this as often as possible for optimal results in Havasupai

Hmm- we probably can't on those dates.
The wife is a new mother and I made her camp last year on mother's day so I should probably do something nice for her this year.

WE're interested and willl be there.
I guess this means I'l have to get the OBA working , so I'll be able to fix a flat- if need be, on the road trip out/back.

smiley12It always nice to be able to air up the tires.

I just put on a new 25' section of 3/8"PVC hose on the reeel. ($9.99 @HF)

: Been a long time since have been in the canyon, seen geologic unconformities- went to Phantom Ranch, once in '74...
It snowed from Indian GArdens ,all the way back to the rim, the last day.
Frown bbrrrrrrrrrrrrr long hike

. I think it was in late march/early April, tho.
I found this"

looks like they want 20$/head, and $10 a night if you camp by the waterfall... I'll make a couple reservations for the wife and I .

WinkYou have a facination w/ big cracks(the canyon), too!

It's just 8 miles down, and all the "heavy stuff"(perishables/food) will be gone by the time you have to hike back up. I hear there's a cafe and a store there, tho, 2 miles from camp.

Been there done that, if I go again my pack is riding on a mule. We carried it all in and out on our backs the first time. There is a cafe and store and best of all there's spring water at the camp. If you haven't ever been to Havasupai it is well worth the trek.

Fixed the date for you.

YOu know, the more I think about it, the more I'm tempted to want mr mule to bring some of our belongings down and up. I figure it would be cheaper that way, that to pay for just a couple meals at the cafe. I imagine it's quite expensive compared to the amount of food you get.

WE could have a regular size 2 burner stove and maybe a small icechest- stocked with( what else) Stone Pale Ale, eggs, butter, steaks ,other perishables.

Whtdya think , Marshall, Mr T.?

Tha's ok, you're colorful enough as it is.

WAssa scoop onthe mules - would we have to be waiting around for our (mule)stuff on the last day, or do the mules "run" ahead of everyone?
