Did the weather suck as bad for you as it did for us at the race?

Saturday night as we are making dinner, a windburst came in the canyon, which is pretty tight at the creek. It ripped a bunch of limbs off of the cottonwood trees. One narrowly missed Taco Dans head and it went through my tent. Seconds later a huge branch rips into Dans tent, killed it and his air mattress. Then during the night a boulder fell from the cliff narrowly missing Jason and Steves tent.

A huge cottonwood split at the trunk further up the campground and took out several tents. Many people evacuated and spent the night in the church in the village two miles away.

Rained all night.

The next morning it drizzled a bit and then someone from the tribe made us move to high ground.

Then the sun came out the rest of the day (off and on) and we got to visit all the falls etc. Then it rained hard a few times Sunday night.

We had to pack up everything wet Monday morning as the mules leave the campground at 7 a.m.

Then came the long 11 mile hike out.

I actually passed some people on the switchbacks this year. Big Grin

More later.

I was really looking forward to pics from your hike.. Have they been posted yet? Did they build a new hut in hte area where the chopper lands? A gigantic tree'd fallen over there while we were down last year, and we were told it'd be cut up to make some type of sweat lodge for ceremonial usage.. Smile

If it has tits or tires, you're gonna' have problems...

I have been soooo busy, another 12 hour day today. I'll post some. Didn't notice that Dan....

Havasu Falls was however very different than last year, so were the pools below Mooney.

Truly a magical place. Next trip will be Sun, Mon, Tues, come out Wed. I need another day down there.

edited.

Here's a couple
