unless you know someone who shoots the stupid expensive brass cased 7.62x39 and wants to give you their brass, i wouldnt bother with thinking about reloading.

ive heard you can reload the steel case but ive also heard of it splitting on the second shot.

instead id wait for a good deal on some russian and buy the hell out of it. thats what i did. ive got just a few rounds of 7.62x39 stashed away. like 5 rounds. im hoping to get like 3 more soon. i'll be close to filling up 1 mag soon! Chug

.410s are pretty weak.12 guage is great for home defense unless you are shooting 3 1/2" magnum turkey loads.

Went to the gun shops today and picked up a CZ-82 Makarov and a neat Russian/Soviet 1930 Mosin-Nagant 91/30 7.62x54mm long rifle (it was dirt cheap and came with a bayonet!). They didn't have anything else that I was particularly looking for. The Arcus 98dac handled really nicely, but the saleman said he was not impressed with it from what he's seen, so I passed. Other than that, I went ahead and picked up another 2,000 rd of 7.62x39 ammo for $220/1k.. Price here in town has gone up to $300/1k since 2 weeks ago.

I'll wait a bit to find a 9mm Sig P6/225 surplus pistol or a Sig P226 since I think I'll be happy with either of those.

Here's a video of a Mosin-Nagant 91/30 hitting an 18" target at 640 yards!! Really cool video.. you can actually see the trajectory of the bullet as it flies.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vDIypxgwzXs

And here's the same guy again shooting 1,000 yards:

Neat stuff:

THE TULA 91/30 PU

Tula-manufactured rifles are readily recognized by the distinctive five-pointed Soviet star containing a fletched arrow stamped into the chamber. Like the Iszevsk PUs, they often have a number stamped into the left side of the chamber, but all types of Tula 91/30 sniper rifles generally have Cyrillic letters resembling "C" and an upside-down "U" – a marking which represents "Snayperskya Provernaya", which translates as "tested for use as a sniper".

Here is a video of a CZ-82 in action:

Looks to be a really nice gun. The bore has polygonal rifling, so cleans very very easily. I had it cleaned up with just a couple swipes of the cleaning rod. Exterior wise, mine has a few chips in the paint and some general holster wear, but seems really solid otherwise.

the 91/30's are sweet. i have one but was going to get another and maybe put the monte carlo stock on it, it makes it look like a regular newer hunting rifle. that plus i need to get a M44. also was going to buy a 1200 round case of ammo too while its cheap.

for how cheap they are and how cheap the ammo is, its a VERY effective rifle.

Got some more AK variants in yesterday. Wink

When I get to work rebuilding them, I'll post up a new thread. Will be a fun project.

www.jgsales.com - J&G Sales still has some Romanian G kits left.. $260 each.
www.apexgunparts.com - Apex has lots of parts kits, ranging from the $145 milled Yugo kits (SMOKING deal if you can weld!) to $300-$500 kits for more sought after guns. Watch for the chopped barrel kits though.

I have some of these Romanian G fixed stocks..
http://www.jgsales.com/product...214/products_id/1410
Decent kits, but were pretty rusty. Should clean up OK though.

And I have some of these Yugoslavian M64 Underfolders..
https://www.apexgunparts.com/p...qqiajujl3qhf36g4rdt6
very nice kits. Even has the grenade launching sights and valve on the gas port. Very little wear, great bluing, & packed in cosmoline. IMO, these are MUCH nicer than the Romanian kits from J&G, which were rusty chunks of steel in comparison. The downside is that these milled receivers must be welded to build them or machined down to accept a stamped receiver.

The price on the Yugos above will be going up drastically when Apex releases a milled receiver repair section in December! The kits are low right now since they are difficult to rebuild. As the other kits dry up, these will probably get more expensive.

My orders with apex werent even slowed down by the recent gun rush.. Ordered and had the items 3-4 days later.
