i have a 84' 720, power derived with the 2.4 z24, so i got to talking with a buddy of mine and decided to put a 3.8l v6, my buddy bought a v6 mustang to put a 306 stroker in, and the engine ran fine in the 3.8 so he said i could have it, i thought, hey its free and was working when we took it out!? what do u guys think? questions? comments? tips? concerns?, the more feedback i get could help alot!

84' 4x4 720 pick-up newly rebuilt z24 2.4l engine, newly rebuilt 5 speed tranny, 33x12.50in futura/dakota a/t, 3in-body lift, rollbar w/4 100 watt h3 spots, optima red top, new in car neon with music pulser, and new streetglow neon underneath, and new rancho shocks all around! unfortunatly still have not found time to take cool pics, but they will be coming soon!

Sounds good. It will fit in the engine bay. The next question is the rest of the drive train to match what the engine is.


I have an '89 Nissan Hardbody King Cab with a Chevy truck/Blazer 4" suspension lift and 3" body lift. It will soon have a TBI 350, SM-465 4 speed trans and 208 T-case rounded off with 39" tires.

im puting a ford 4 speed in, and going to have a custom drive shaft made to connect to the divorced transfer case..

Need a transmission and wiring harness/ECU to go along with it. Fortunately, the 720 runs a divorced Tcase, so you could likely fab up a short shaft depending on the overall engine/trans length.

Once the tranny and x-case is figured out everything els should be gravy.
