Alright, throw them at me. Ive got the bed off my 720 and decided I like it. Give me some ideas on some things I can do/put back there, ex.(shorten frame, some way to fill the space between frame rails, cover it some way), whatever u think is eligable.

Well, depending on the type of wheeling you're gonna be doing, you'll probably need some extra weight back there. Trucks already dont have the best traction in the rear, and that problem is only compounded when you take off the bed. Just whatever you do dont throw an actual weight set on there (as in the chopped 2 door pathy that the pic of floated around here and ac for awhile).
Ive always liked the idea of a flatbed, just for looks and clearance. You have to factor in the gas tank filler and taillights also. Daniel 1999 Frontier XE 2WD I4 AUTO - RIP sold 11/01/05 1994 Pathy XE 4WD V6 5 SPD - Bought 1/29/06 |

to help with the weight problem what if you move your gas tank back there mounted even or a lil above the frame that way it will add weight and also get your tank off the rocks.. also you can make a custom larger tank...

As for wheelin, strictly rocks and mud (more mud than rocks). Like the gas tank idea. Keep em coming.

Well got one project done. I took my bumper off along with the brackets and mounted it much higher and closer to the axle, which in turn puts the weight closer to my axle. Mounted it directly to the frame. Wasnt able to get but one bolt through it so I welded the outer edge of the bracket on the bumper directly to the frame. It is very stout and even serves 2 or 3 purposes (weight closer to axle, higher off the ground so I dont have to worry about bottoming out coming off a steep slope, and a sturdier bumper all in an hour and a halfs time). Surely yall have some ideas.

On mine, I'm gonna remove the bed, hack the frame off about 2-3 inches behind the rear shackles, put something in there as a crossmember, weld on a nice piece of c channel stock with some lights as a bumper, add a hitch, a couple of D ring mounts, and probably a tow hook into the reciever of the hitch. Then put like a flatbed between the framerails, mount a 15 gallon fuel cell up against the cab, run some tubing up about 10 inches and then over the tires from the cab back, and then cover that area with diamond plate or plate steel, and then build a rollcage into it, and highlioft mounts and mounts for my spare and whatever else is good to carry like toolbox mount etc. Place for the cooler, things like that. Got the idea from looking at a few designs for chase trucks as well as a replacement offroad bed for a Toyota that is produced by some company(can't remember right now, if interested I will find the pic and scan it in so you have an idea of what I am talking about, or I will just draw a diagram or something). After that truck should be stronger, stiffer, have nouegh weight in the back, more visibility, more clearance, and one hell of a nice departure angle.

I like what I did to mine (though, if I had a tube bender, it would be a little different). That was still IFS on 33's Isaac 1993 Nissan Hardbody 4-cyl 4x4 SAS & dual cases 1/2 complete!
