It is strange to see the varation here, some with 80k and running not so hot, and others going strong at 200k plus....

I wonder.

I also wonder what a VG30 will run me in the event that I have a major problem....

106,000 on my '94
104,000 on my '95

The '94 is going strong, but the '95 has busted manifold studs for the second damn time.

the manifold probs are with pretty much all the 3.0's. i fixed that mess.
the piston slap prob is from a bad design that doesent lube a few cylinders properly. nissan did a kinda secret recall on it and there fix for it was replacing the engine...
a 3.0 with any sort of care taken with it should do 200k easy.

This VG30 does not burn a drop of oil, runs so damn smooth you barely know that it's running, and headed towards 201k. The previous owner was really good about changing the oil when due, no smoke, you all know about most of the problems...Slippy clutch, power steering hose, no fuel or temp gauge (voltage reg behind cluster), carrier bearing, more than likely a u joint, and I would prefer to do the timing belt just to be safe (along with the h2o pump and 90 degree hose). Other than that the truck is straight, good paint, bedliner, the "transformer" stock wheels (as my son Kodi calls 'em) everything else seems to work right down to the power mirrors, and you would shoot me if I told you what I paid for it...

At any rate, it's in as good of shape as a 100k and runs better than most...I'm in to it cheap enough that in the worst case, if it needs a motor I can toss one in there, I HATE to think of that cost...

I am trying to post pics and have yet to figure that out.

Ok, rambling, on with the post.....

motors arent that bad. i got mine rebuilt with new heads and all. it has like 45k on the rebuild when the van was wrecked. the guy i got the motor from had pulled the motor for his 300zx but gave up on that project so i got the motor, stand and box of spare parts including alternator and a few sets of injectors for 150$.

mine was taken care of fairly well. the probs are the tranny can be kinda hard to shift, probably from being used 100k without enought fluid, a design flaw. then the piston slap, another design flaw. the smoking i am 99% sure is from a bad sensor somewhere. when i replaced the rear main seal i messed it up a little and it's leaking again...

Good truck though. i would have been thru 5 domestic vehicles with what this hardbody has received. it's seen some tough stuff and still functions fine as a daily driver sometimes. my 2000 frontier daily driver is currently down so i've been driving my wheeling truck every day.

My 95 Pathfinder has 116,000 miles on it, I've put 86,000 of those miles on it, driven it HARD, lots and lots of trips up to the Colorado high country from Denver, it has ran to the west coast and back at least 6 times, from Lake Tahoe down to San Diego a few more, and it runs just like it did when I purchased it, 3.5 years ago.

Hmmm Letsee, Mines a 95 Pathy; Odometer reads 127??? BUT the odometer hasn't worked since NovemberI do about 20K/year so I've probably put about 6 or 7K since then. Lets say I have 134 now.

No major problems I didn't create(strike that...The rear wentbad at like 32K but Nissan fixed it no questions asked.)I blew a rear main seal at about 40K by playing in a mud hole on Secong Mtn Rdin the GWNF in Va. That got fixed under Carmax warrenty...again, no questions asked.

It runs great. Future projects include installing a VG33 upperplenum and getting a spare pair of heads I have laying around ported/polished by ouwown Lee of L&P and dropping a cam in 'em then swapping the out the original heads.

zoom zoom go more better power!

I have 141,000. Clutch and fuel pump replaced, otherwise it runs very well. (gotta fix that exhaust manifold though!)
