Does anyone have a nice trick for cleaning the inside of a axle tube? While I was doing a high steer knuckle install, I removed my axle shaft and found dirt/mud in the tubing, so I used a pry bar to scrap all I could out and will be changing fliud in the pumpkin. I was just wanting to clean it out as much as possible. I also bought some "Alloy" Tube Seals(pic below)to help keep dirt out.

How about a toilet bowl brush and solvent?

I cleaned my rear axle housing with a pressure washer once everything was out.

Other than that, I have used a rag twisted onto the end of a rod.

What kind of front axle do you have? I bought some of those a few years ago on a site that said they fit Dana 44s. I found out later that it was only certain Dana 44s.

As far as cleaning, you might be able to use one of those cylinder honers that is a bunch of abrasive balls and then coat the inside with a heave grease.

Anyone want to buy a set of those seals?

Would a yarn mop fit in there? I think that would work pretty good.

I have a dana 30. As for what they fit, 97- present TJ/XJ, THey do work if you have a super 30 kit on earlier XJ/YJ, or it you have the axle shafts from a 97- present TJ/XJ. I wished I had known you had them I would have got them from you.

clean rags on a stick/pole would be your best method. 100% rubbing Alcohol is a awesome cleaner that will not hurt anything. You will have to do a few oil changes to flush out all the residual fluid left. Alcohol cant hurt anything.

You would probably need a gallon.

be careful doing this that you don't push dirt and crap into the splines on your carrier. It'll be near impossible to clean that out if you do unless you pull the entire carrier.

A little dirt and crap in there isn't going to hurt anything. If I were to use anything, I'd use shop vac to suck the dirt and junk out.
