i drive 2.2 diesil xtrail when starting when cold the idle goes hi sometimes up to 3000rpm after a short while ticks over normally during rest off day it is fine nissan cant find any problem ,i have just bought it so am worried i may have a fault would be really gratefull for any help.

Have you given it to the dealer overnight ,so they can try to duplicate this cold starting issue?.

Check all vacuum lines for breaks or dry rot and replace as necessary. If equipped, check Mass Airflow pipe (between MAF and throttlebody) for breaks and tightness.

its a diesel they dont make vaccum so your not going to have vaccum lines.
it idles 3000rpm's! you dont even shift a diesel that high half the time i cant think of what would make it do that but Id deffinately have it looked into a little more

it only ticks over at between 2000 and 3000 when cold outside,after about 30 secs ticks over fine at about 750rpm been to dealers they cant find the fault
