try soaking it w/ penetrating oil for a day, if not done already.

Maybe you have to take the manifold off.

I am not familiar with the swirl valve, so these are just some ideas off the top of my head:

Can you get a small pair of Vice Grips on the screw head?

There are phillips head "sockets" that may do the trick. I can't remember where I got mine, but I think it was an auto parts store that sold PROTO tools.

Can you tack weld a nut on top, then use a wrench?

It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

If it has a head that is not flush and sticks out a little snap on sells sockets that are 1/4 and 3/8 drive that goes on a ratchet. When you loosen it the spirals in the socket will bite in and loosen it. They work great!

thanks for all the help. after soaking it over night and a 6 pack later I saw a tool on TV called PRO GRABIT and I usaully see those adds and never pay them no mind but I said what the hell and got one at Ace hardware. man that thing works great. $10 for the bit, one side hones out the hole and the other side cuts into the bolt as you back it out. If you have any problems with stripped bolt or screws thats what you need.

again thanks everyone
