It defeats the clutch switch so you can start it in gear and run into your garage door.

Turn the key on, press and release the switch and it should crank without having to push in the clutch.

Just make sure you are IN the truck everytime you do that.

It's a fine line between clever and stupid.

Nothing the Switch just turns off the interlock as so the truck can be started without pushing the clutch. I have used it a few times. I used it once when the clutch master cylinder went out and the clutch couldn't be used. It's kind of handy when your changing your oil to reach over put the truck in neutral press the switch then start the truck. It could also possibly save you like for instance if the engine stalls and leaves your truck stranded on the railroad tracks. I've used it before to bump start my truck when the starter had a dead spot. I don't really see how it could be used offroad.

When Nissan introduced this with the hardbody. You had to push in the clutch to start the truck. Don’t know why, probably due to careless people.

All standard 720's you just turn the key to start don’t have to have the clutch in. Same with my 71 Z.

There is an interlock relay under the hood on the passenger side wheel well. Check the connections at the pedal first and look at the relay if that's all good. Mine doesn't work either but I haven't thought about fixing it.

My brake light also comes on but when I shut the interlock off the light goes off.
