I've found a guy selling an 89 HB v6 4x4 5spd. I've got the same but a 95. Are the motor and trans compatible to my 95 or does anyone have a link to where I could compare specs? The guy's asking $500 but I'm sure I can get it for $250 at the most. My plan is to strip it then scrap the rest.

The block and heads are the same, but the fuel system/injeciton is different. The trans if its is an auto is probably not compatible with the later trucks.. the later trucks (90+, IIRC) use a computer controlled transmission.

If the parts truck is a manual tranny then yes, its a bolt in replacement.

My main concern was the trans. It supposedly has a new clutch in it with 140k on the motor. I'd have to drive like an hour and a half to go get it, find some way to get it home (tow or trailer), tear it down, then have the county come pic it up (for free here in HI). All that time and money I might as well just pay to have mine rebuilt.
