The interesting thing was that those werent ordinary S-10s. They were actually Chevy ZR2s, which have a stock 3" lift, larger differentials, fender flares, and wider wheels & larger tires stock.

Funny how a nearly stock nissan could do better than them.

quote:
The following is the list of the factory modifications:

* RPO ZR2 only full ladder-type frame with modified suspension mounting points which provide:

* 100mm wider track (3.9 inches wider than regular S-10)

* Three-inch suspension height increase

* Enhanced front (7.25" ring gear) and rear (8.5" ring gear) axles w/ 3.73:1 rear-axle ratio

* Larger wheel and axle bearings

* 31 x 10.5R-15 LT/C black wall off-road tires (BFG A/Ts on pickups and BFG Long Trails on BlaZeR2)

* 46mm gas pressurized Bilstein Monotube shocks

* Rear axle track bar (pickups) / rear sway bar (BlaZeR2)

* Wheel flares (black on S-10 pickups and BlaZeR2 / body-color on Sonoma pickups)

* 33mm (early model) / 28mm (late model) front anti-sway bar

* Skid plates

ZR2's are decent...I was actually looking at those before I bought my Nissan, but they cost too much, and that was back in '98 during the GM strike, so I was afraid of quality issues as well. They still just don't flex. Maybe if you trashed the swaybar....

The 4 door wasn't a Zr2; just think he had a body lift to clear the tires.

Hey Joel.. what are you doing on August 10th?

From their site:

We're going to see those rocks again on Aug 10th ... Brian want to show them who the F*** is boss big grin

Mabye they need an Xterra.. or hell, mabye even Ty's Jeep to show them the way. smile I guess its a good way to find the weak points. Im sure if we drove over those boulders a few more times we'd find a few weak points too.

Toolbox and I both had the pleasure of running some of the same trails that you guys did just a week ago...

Sorry no damage to report other than a couple mudflaps that got ripped off on the rock garden and some more dents on my skidplates.

Sliders are a great thing...I swear I felt like my windows would shatter after coming down on a couple of the boulders.

Pictures are posted HERE

or check out the XOC Board

Enjoy smile

Yep, I'd have been fine with sliders. In most cases, I took the harder lines. Well....I was fine without them too...LOL. A little body damage never hurt anybody big grin

Hey Snoopy,

Great pics man, ahhh, the memories...a long way from Ohio.

Wish you guys could have made the run with us in a big group, although that would probably take a weekend in itself...

Found another photo of a rollover on this trail (on the last waterfall:

In this case, the driver and passenger had to be air-evac'd and were in surgery for 2-3 days after. They both survived though. That waterfall there seems to take its toll.

Shows the longer wheelbase is where it's at for that obstacle.
