We almost saw a Jeep Wrangler roll over on the waterfall during our trip last week. I have to wonder why locked vehicles take the lines they do? Does a locker make them feel invincible?

What's up fellow Nissan off-roaders! Pretty cool board you guys have here. I happen to be the owner of that white ZR2 blazer which is showing it's awesome flex (or lack there-off) a few posts back on page 2 big grin Glad to hear after all was said and done, everyone made it ok off the trails (from the June trip).

Just wanted to clear up the drive shaft issue we had at T6 (pics above) since I was the so called spotter frown Mainly due to my mistakes and the driver's slight enthusiasm to get over the boulder, I didn't notice that when the rear of the truck had slid towards the driver side due to the slope of the rocks, that the shaft had come dangerously close to a sharp rock.

I was too busy watching the front end and the frame and completely forgot about checking the shaft (I had no easy view) ... only for a minute. Of course that's all that was needed ... before we knew it, the tuck bounced and we heard a BANG. and there they were ... 2 driveshafts! eek You can be sure I will never make that mistake again roll eyes big grin

He didn't break anything else. Towed him back to town and the next day, he and I went back with a new steel shaft and were under way in about 20 mins.

Happy to say the next time we did Dishpan Springs and T6 (a few weeks later), we had about 8 or 9 trucks, a few of them completely stock without any body protection. We had to take our time but got everyone through without even a single scratch (had 2 good spotters watching every truck and really took our time). Dishpan Springs and that rockgarden at the T6 intersection (around Lake Arrowhead) is a REALLY fun trail if you are ever in that area.

Welcome to the board! hehe big grin

There's a nice ZR2 sitting out in my parking lot right now. I would go take a picture but my camera is currently not working.

Sweeeeeeeeeeeet! Welcome to the board! That was a really fun day.. with all the breakage, near rolls, and all. smile Most of us were from out of state and were there in Cali for a Nissan commercial shoot (BTW, they are playing the commercials with our trucks now on TV during monday night football and whatnot).

The driveshaft breakage you guys had was nuts, but it happens.. I just couldnt believe it when I saw those pics. Didnt figure we would run into you guys online until I remembered your window stickers and checked out your website. Saw all the breakage stuff then.

I read that he had a new heavy gauge steel DS fabbed up and installed.. That should put an end to that problem for good. big grin

BTW, any of your Arizona counterparts are more than welcome to check out the board for upcoming trail runs we are doing. Everyone is invited. In fact, we are running Reno Pass this saturday (9/28), and then running a backroad to Wickenburg through Copperopolis ghost town on sunday (9/29). Check the "SWANKy" or "Base Camp" forums for the meeting plans if any of you want to join us.

I just still can't believe that Chevy would use an aluminum shaft like that on a 4wd truck. Glad he got it fixed right the first time though.

Welcome to the board. It'd be cool to see you guys on the trails again!

Like John says, we are always posting trail ride announcements on the SWANKy forum here, so feel free to take a look around and if you or any of your S-10 buddies want to join us, just say the word.
