Mikey,

My tire guy chit when I told him 16.5's and said they were phasing out that size so I called TR and changed the order to a 16 inch rim and now he's much happier.

Looks like it's gonna be a 37-16-12.50 SSR Radial or TSL Radial.

Gonna decide after this weekend and order them on Monday.

Mark, I would stray away from the SSR's. It looks like you want a radial but I think the SX like Zhvonte said would be the ultimate for the trail. Have you now ruled out the MT/R's? Looks like your staying with the 37"s.

Matt,

Goodyear makes a 37 but on a 17 inch rim. Didn't want to go that big for a rim so thought splitting the difference with a 16.5 would work until my buddy informed me that the rims would be about worthless in 3 years or possibly less. Bummer. So, down to 16 and the MT/R isn't available in that size so the Swampers.

All my tires on my jeeps were all Goodyear and no little about the fine differences in the Swamper line but learning quickly.

With help smile

You can fit 15" wheels on the new axles with the proper offset and a little grinding on the front callipers. Just order a set of 15" eight lug wheels then you can get whatever tires you want.

HEY! what's wrong with the SSR's....other than the radial/bias debate and I'll concede easily that bias is better for the rough trails.

I've been using them for quite some time now. I have somewhere between 30-40K on mine. Never even needed a rebalance and you oughta see how huge of a gash I have on the sidewall for over a year now and no blow-out. Personally I think they are the best aggressive Daily Driver/trail tire you can get.

And no, I'm not offended matty, just sticking up for my picked on tires big grin

mark, i would strongly suggest going with 15" rims and running MT/R's. LoneWolf is right about grining the calipers a little with the right offset, the 15" will fit, I seen it done before. The reason being for the mt/r's is, given the amount of highway driving you do, you will wear the shiat out of them swampers just by driving here. Those MT/R's will last you 30-40k miles whereas the swampers will not.

Sticking with 16's. I've heard about shaving the caliper to fit the 15's today from my buddy at 4wheelparts but think the extra rim will offer more stability with the larger tires.

My interest on the SSR was from Brians testimony in Cali and kinda looking forward to running another brand than Goodyear.

For the next year anyway a tire with some decent road manners is going to be important.

SSR's = poopy.
TSL Radials = not quite so poopy.
MTR's = best radial, good on road, good offroad, but still a little poopy.
TSL Bias = cool bias, poopy on road, but rosy offroad.
TSL Bogger = cool looking bias, REAL poopy on road, but rosier offroad.
TSL/SX = schweet bias, not quite as poopy as booger on road, and SCHWEET offroad.

Yeah, actually, I did!
Here is what I found out:

They are TOO SMALL! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I crack myself up sometimes... hahaha

On a side note, I think they are softer than TSL, and work pretty well. For such a small tire... hehe

Mikey you are a crack up.

I would run a SSR over a goodyear off-road any day

Better side walls, and WAY more aggressive off-road

MTR=pretty boy street tire errr. mud or whatever

MIkey, I know they dont make any big enough for you, but I was curious how the tires are.... Because I want to get their 34x10.5 after I get the truck lifted six inches and replace fender with prerunner fenders.

I'm more of a rock crawler. If you like mud, that's all you bro. wink hehehe But, if you notice, there are NO competitors running SSR's. Rather, they are running MTR's! (And BFG Krawlers, and TSL/SX's) But everyone is running MTR's for a reason, they are the best radial mud tire out there!
