Got to agree with you Mikey! MT/Rs have been very good to me offroad. I haven't even gotten a flat yet big grin

Then only downside is that they do not have any grip on the pavement, no stoping power what-so-ever. Its been twice now that I almost run into somebody because I cannot stop my truck on time (luckly I have ABS and I'm able to swerve around them). MR/Rs are very slippery on the pavement, specially when wet!

Hmmm. Must be the compound causing that? My cheap Uniroyal M/T tires are awesome on dry pavement. Even in the wet they are great.

I have noticed the MTRs making a lotof sound when I turn and when I have hit my breaks a little hard, but I have not noticed a lack of traction. I guess it would make sense since they are essentailly just pealing off in the street. They are definatly soft and leave a lot of rubber on the driveway if I turn the wheels.

I will say when I had my mt/r's on the 2002 frontier, I had many many close calls when I first got it. It took some getting used to. The tire even react differently at high speeds when cornering the mountain curves. It seems like the ass end of the truck wants to slide and didnt do that before with the street tires....

Well, yeah, they are mud tires and are not meant for great handling. No mud tire will ever handle like a street tire.

Mine squeal when braking hard but most of that is because my front tires are worn unevenally, the lack of any siping doesn't help either. I really didn't buy these tires looking for superior on-road skills, I got them because they are radials and will last longer than bais. Plus the fact that they pretty much rule on the rocks. big grin

No swamper hater here an1malch1n. wink I am looking at a set of swampers for my next set of trail tires because of there unique sizes in the LTB line. 34x10.5

john, here is the other thing i dont understand. The speed is rated at 90 mph for that tire. I drove that set of tires up doing 115 mph and I never seen the tread having premature seperation wear.

Then you got real lucky. That rating isnt the absolute speed where separation occurs. it just means that the tire CANNOT handle the heat associated with speeds above that.

Consider yourself lucky that it didnt separate. A high-speed & heat related tire separation is usually very violent. Never exceed the rated speed of your tires.

115 on mud tires is just stupid. I think Marshal needs some 37's and some 3.08 gears on his Frontier. roll eyes roll eyes

115 in a frontier just isnt a good idea, i've had mine to about 110 and it just aint meant for it, BUT to know your tires are rated to 90 and then take them to 115? your seriously asking for it.
