A tour of a tent City on AZ Run 2.

This is a prime tent city specimen. This one took place on one of the nights of AZ Run 2. Notice the carefully placed vehicles are used as anchors for the tent city roof:

As we step inside this tent city, notice how sleeping arrangements are made so that one may stumble right into their tent (or vehicle) to sleep for the night.

Note carefully planned tent city interior. Grills are centralized with beverage coolers placed within reach. Lighting is ample and also serves dual purpose to heat up tent city.

This next tent city was only a day-tent on FR42. This is a good example of a minimalist tent city, with only 3 vehicles being used. It is rumored that tent city has been attempted by 2 or even 1 vehicle, but I have no pictures of this rare breed.

Another prime example of tent city. By leaving a side open, the tent city may be expanded by adding more vehicles and tarps. This is handy if tent city resident is running late.

This is a famous tent city. It occured during the filming of a Nissan commercial in California. Although built with good intentions, notice the lack of shade. This caused the occupants to move closer toward the trucks.. When the shade disappeared altogether, tent city had to be expanded to add more.

We discovered that even Nissan can make a good tent city. We found it to be lavish, although completely lacking in the 4wd department. This tent city was equipped with the holy grail of all tent cities.. a Catering truck.

You forgot the other holy grail, John....The air conditioned shitter!

I love the writeup on the different categories of tent cities smile

One common theme is my big gray tarps big grin

Garbacho, the PVC tent poles is a nifty idea.

The AZ Tent City was actually invented in Colorado run last year because I poured water out of my pup tent and decided to sleep in the truck (it rained a LOT). Since I have a toolbox and need to do that with the tailgate down, and Mikey was doing the same in his Pathy, a small tarp went up and tent city was born. From there it grew in size to as large as 6-7 trucks backed into a circle, as shown in John's pics above.

Ahh the memories... Night one of the Colorado run. Mikey with no tent, just blankets and a -15 mummy bag and a tarp. Andy parked right behind with rear of trucks facing. Tarp goes up, Mikey happy, not quite as wet as he thought. The beginning. And Mikey said, let there be TENT CITY! hahaha

The reason for that was, we were eating STEAK and mashed POTATOES! While you guys were trying to warm the baby cock! Tent city was the place to be to drink, but out POS city had the best menu of the trip! he he he.

I notice you guys dont talk smack about my propane BBQ anymore. We were rolling when Ty went over to tent city to offer you guys some left over steak.

You guys will have to make room for the X on the next run. I will bring a monster tarp too.
