Have you tried finding parts for older Nissans? I have , w little succss
( recently). 5 years ago parts were plentiful- no more. Grab what you can, and then some. But they might be nonfunctional after sitting so long. The junkyards here are 5 miles from the border w/ Mexico( part of my problem). ..................... "Climate change is no longer science. It's politics... Climate change is also about power. Power to control.... It's about who gets to decide: how much energy we will have... where that energy will come from... what it will cost... It's about simulations, scenarios and monsters conjured up by computer models that should never be used to chart government policy -- especially on matters that will profoundly affect our livelihoods, living standards, life spans and dreams of a better future. It would be a considerable undertaking, but it may be worth the effort. Living in south Mississippi, I consider air conditioning to be a vital component of my truck. In fact, my two best friends are Max and Norm.
You would be looking at: Removing the fan and radiator to install the condensor Installing the hoses and metal lines installing the compressor, compr. bracket, idler pully assembly and belt. You may have to swap crank pulleys if yours does not have the inner v belt pulley for the compressor. Removing the dash and possibly the existing heater ducts to install the evaporator, ducting, vent controls and wiring harness. Replacing the climate control panel if yours does not have the AC controls already. Odds are you already have the ducting and places for the harnesses and such to plug in. If you have to pull it all from a doner truck, you will be doing it twice, but the removal from the doner will be like a practice run. I don't know your skill level or how bad you want AC, but it is certainly do-able. |

If I remember, you just need to pull the glove box out, there is a section of duct between the blower and the heater core that comes out and the evaporator assy slips in, you probably already have the plugs for the switch etc (tapped to the harness's) under the dash.. if you have all the parts, it really shouldnt be that bad... make sure you replace all o-rings and there is no contamination in the system..
My truck also came with no air... some of the best money I ever spent! (bought a a/c kit back in 87, when they still made them!) |
