can't remember the code, but it was related to the emissions. I have always heard to clean out the EGR valve because that can get crudded up (I changed the PCV valve and it looked horrible), but can't figure out in the maze of hoses which one is the EGR valve. can someone take a pic? Thanks in advance.

Look for a metal tube that connects to the exhaust. The tube will run to a circular doodad with a small vacuum hose on top. That's the EGR. It's bolted to the intake somehow.
There's another valve called the BPT that's connected to the EGR and plays some role in regulating EGR flow. (EGR on a VG30E, rusty part in the top right corner) |
