I made a post earlier about how my transmission suddenly started making a grinding noise whenever I took my foot of the clutch. The noise would disappear if I would push the clutch in. Well $900 later I found out that the input shaft bearing was toast. I had them change the clutch while they were in there. Anyone else have problems with their transmission? I've only owned it half a year and I've already dropped nearly 1k in it. Something is telling me that Nissans may not be that reliable.

make sure the shop put in GL-4 and OVERFILLED IT a quart and half. GL-5 will wreck it, as will just filling it to the top of the fill hole. Tilt the truck to the side to get in more or fill it fromthe top by taking off the shifter plate.

quarter million and counting- no problems

It sounds like the previous owner didn't know how to drive a clutch. You can't blame Nissan for an idiotic owner.

My '89 had 200,000 miles on the original tranny with towing a 6,000 lb trailer on a 50 mile round trip to the races every friday night for 2.5 years. It hauled 2200 lb spray shuttles for the farm. I hauled two dodge minivans from over 120 miles away, and trailered our 3/4 ton GMC 35 miles.

I also down shift at every stoplight instead of braking.

The clutch looked brand new when it was pulled. It also only cost me $600 for all new bearings/seals/synchros.

Any vehicle with a clutch will have the throwout bearing go bad if somebody doesn't keep their foot off the pedal.
