I've been using 235 R15/75 LT tires on my 4x4 Nissan pickups since 1990.
What I have to admit is I don't know anything about any other sizes. I've never felt the need for a bigger tire and my BFGs or others have always got me up steep, loose, rocky mtn. roads through streams, small bogs, some snow and whatever else I wanted to traverse while going off-road, mostly for hunting. I still have to drive the truck in the city for day to day stuff occasionally and on the highway to get to my mountain roads too. So I see folks using 31-inch, and 33-inch tires on their trucks and wonder for one thing, if I bought some of those, would they fit on my regular rims or would I need new ones? And what is the advantage of bigger tires? I'm not into diving into deep bog holes just to see if I can get stuck, or climbing huge boulders or anything like that, just the occasional washed out mountain logging road. And some of them can get pretty hairy! |

Stick with what works. If you aren't having any problems, there's no need to change your tire size. Larger tires give you a smoother ride over bumps, easier climbing over rocks, and more traction in mud, sand, or rocky terrain. They are more expensive and tend to wear faster, depending on which ones you get.

These are a skosh bigger but will give you no problems whatsoever. I run these front or back. Have to get a new set in a few months- for the front- as my old Wrangler 31-1050's are up there and jest plain tuckered out. I couldn't run the 31's up front if they had anything over 25% of their the tread left. ..................... "Climate change is no longer science. It's politics... I just got some cooper stt 31/10.5X15 on my truck and i love them. One tire rubs on the pitman shaft when i trun right, but not bad enough to worry about. The truck looks way better too. They are alot quieter than i thought and the tire guys said i should get 40-60k out of them on light trucks like ours.

Any 9.5" wide tire will fit on the stock 15x5.5" wide rims. If you have the 15x7 "LEGO" rims, a tire up to 11.5 wide will fit. For relibility, and cost effectiveness, a 30x9.5 is all you'd need. If u find yourself getting stuck too badly and more than once, invest in a winch mounting system (brush guard, custom bumper, ARB Bullbar, custom reciever mount) and purchase a winch (Warn M8000, Superwinch Xi series, are both affordable, reliable winches). Stock trucks, with proper recovery tools, can go many places! They do it in Austrailia and South America all the time!

What stock rims are you referring to? I have the nice chrome pathfinder rims that all the lowered HB's want to get. What is the width of my rim? 5.5" ? And what is the lego rim that you are referring to? Also, what is the widest I can go on my rim? 9.5 as you stated? Sorry, just trying to clarify.
