This is a stupid question but have any of you guys had a tach that jumps all over the place? It doesn't efect anything mechanically but it drives me crazy while I am driving. It always looks like Im running 5K rpm. On my VWs this was always a sign of a bad ground in the charging system and the car would usually stop running. This seems to be more of an anouance. Just wondering if I have anything to worry about.

Hahah.. yeah, my tach does this. The tach is one part that does go bad after a while for some reason on all these trucks. I havent figured mine out yet. Usually the dealer just replaces the tach assembly when they fail like this, so it must be something internal that goes out.

I've got a big monster tach that I'm thinking about putting in for now.

I didint think it was too important. Im just paranoid because of my other problems.

My tach is bad too...Now it is covered by a picture of my wife, so I can;t see it anymore . I think it would bother me if it was a manual transmission though...

My dad's pathy does this. It doesn't seem to affect anything just jumps all over the place.
Sometimes is actually works and is accurate though.
