has anyone closed their tailgate after unloading debris and maybe got a rock or pebble wedged in there somewhere. I can't open the tailgate now, the handle lifts but not far enough to open the latch..
any help would be great! |

Take a couple standard screwdrivers. You can slide them inbetwen the latches on the sides of the tailgate, and "force" them open.

Or try lifting the latch- while banging on either side of the tailgate where the gate latches to the bedside. This helps me, sometimes when the gate's jammed.

That's too funny....looking at this thread, all I could think about was the only Nissan thing (besides the stock IFS) that EVER failed me was....the stock tail-gate handle...w/ it's brittle/bendable plastic!  It only failed because I had the tailgate "spring-loaded" (my spare was full of air, and it was pressing against my shock hoop....leading to...having to push the tail-gate shut w/ one big SHOVE!....it wasn't the tailgate's fault...it was my dumb-ass!!! )  Later... I to am on my second tail gate handle. Yes sometimes I have problems opening up the tail gate after hauling dirt or something, I usually wiggle the tailgate a little to pop open the latch.

Must be tailgate handle week. Mine just broke yesterday and it was only 13 years old.
