Just wondering how to check what code my cel is showing on my 95 sev6. I have a problem with my truck when it rains, something gets wet and it runs very poorly. And the cel sometimes comes on.
How can i check this? Anybody hear of this problem? It almost seems like it drives with a bad o2 sensor, not sure if theres a cut in the wire causing a short or something... |

Try THIS LINK or THIS LINK.
There may be some other stuff in the How-To forum that will help you with your glitch, but click on those two links first. |

Thanks for the links reserector. The cel went away before i could check it, and it hasnt rained again...yet. Although, i think the problem has developed, because the truck will run really rough now every time i start it up cold. AFter 2-4 minutes of driving the stuttering goes away and it drives better. Anybody know what this could be without having a code to pull?
Perhaps an o2? |

Check the connection on the temperature sender. There are two; one with a single wire that operates the gauge and one with two wires that signals the ECU. You'll want to check the two-wire connection.
If it comes unplugged, the ECU won't know the engine is cold and it will run poorly as a result. They CAN go bad as well. You can check them with a digital meter capable of checking resistance. A factory service manual will have the values to check for. The two wires come from the ECU. One is 5 volts + while the other is a ground. The ECU measures the resistance of the sender. I may have the resistance values if you need them. |
