I have looked(searched) and i can't find out what will happen if you wheel on worn out cv's! I know my cv's are dead, because they clunk and click like a mo-fo! My question is since there is no hope for them can I keep running with them with all the noise and be fine or will it snap and poke a hole in something? I can live with the noise but not a hole or my wheels shooting off my rig?
If you break them, they typically just grenade the CV housing with a loud bang. They usually wont hurt anything else when they go, other than not being able to use 4wd. You'll need to switch over to 2wd to drive though until you can replace it.

If it breaks completely and takes the boot with it, it could be flopping around and get in the way of suspension movement or steering. You can just remove it though if it goes and put it back together again without it, but don't drive long that way, as you'll be able to get dirt, etc. in your bearings without a halfshaft there.
