Dirt Road Driver |
Hi to you all.
After some adventures in the HB I'm thinking that a body lift will be necessary, so I have been searching for info on the net an in some forums. I saw a kit in $188 usd in USA, but have no inputs about body lift kits here in mexico. So I'm analyzing the chances to make my own body lift at home, and now the questions are: is this possible and reliable? do any of you have a how to or the instructions of an original BL kit? I readed about a couple things like the steering and the power steering limited movement, but I understood a braket to relocate the power steering is only needed when going over 3"... am I right? other this is that the steering may need an extension, if so, how can this be done? I saw a nice how to of a frontier's lift, but I know it's not the same thing. I'm thinking to make a 2 or 3" lift to use 32s mud wheels. the HB nissan pickup 1990 4x4 |

I did my own BL, just over 2". The steering had enough adjustment on the splines to work. A 3" lift would require an extension. I threw away the 'U' that circles the driveshaft, and had to buy some fuel filler tube to extend that. I didn't relocate the radiator, just had to remove the lower part of the shroud, and it never ran hot. This was a few years ago so I don't have much more info.

That " U" reinforces the floor/transmission tunnel. Without it, the floor sags/ cracks w/ increased weight. ..................... "Climate change is no longer science. It's politics... Well then, I guess you remove it at your own risk. It didn't look like it did much, but I'm no engineer. Looked more like a safety catch for the driveshaft to me.

BAsically, the seats tip inward toward each other as the floor sags in the middle.

You could very easily add a 1 or 2" body lift to your truck and just be fine. I ran 31's on my truck without a problem for a long time.

A 2" body lift wont require a lot of modification to the truck. All lines and hoses should be fine.
