If your 94 XE was a V6, it should be the same. They are all VG30e engines.

First, Make SURE you set the engine to top dead center before you start tearing it down.

On my truck, I used an impact wrench to remove the bolt on the crank pulley. Then with some careful prybar work, i was able to slide the crank pulley off. Once you get that off, its pretty straightforward from there. Just remove the covers and then follow the timing belt replacement procedure, which can be found here:

Here is the complete tear down and timing belt procedure with photos for the VG33E, which should be very similar:

And one for the VG30 here, but without photos:

It's always nice to borrow/rent/steal a pulley puller to get the crank pulley off.

Pulling the shroud and radiator helps too.

HA! Dont know about everyone else here, but I bought a new tensioner stud last time I did a t-belt with the thought of replacing the old one. The old stud had become "one with the block." There was no way I could get it out without torching it or breaking it, so I left it. Wasnt worth messing with.

It should still assemble/tension in the same manner though. The timing belt installation differences between my 89 and 95 V6 engines are very minimal from what I've seen.

Agreed on that part, it was a negligible difference between the vg30i, vg30e, and vg33i I built.
