I don't know if this applies, so PLEASE take it w/ a grain of salt and proceed at your own risk/get confirmation from another source-

I would assume the old arms/bushings are trash, correct?

And the bushings in the old arms are pretty stuck to the pivot shaft, yes?

You could hit the bushings w/ a torch and get the rubber burning. After the bushings are toast, I think you'll find it very easy to get the pivot shaft out.

What I did was use a drill bit roughly the same diameter as the bushing wall and drilled several holes through the bushings between the UCA and bushing sleeve. That relieved the pressure and gave room for the bushing to collapse into itself. Then I spun the spindle nut halfway onto the threads to protect them and whacked the end of the spindle. Two good hits and it popped right out. I cleaned the rest of the old bushings off with a razor knife, torch and wire wheel. There's probably less chance of deforming something by doing it this way rather than holding a torch on it for a long time, too. I got the whole truck lifted in about five hours.

ive been workin on the pass fron for about 6 hrs i got the cross bar out but i cant get the bushings off. it looks like a normal bushing with the rubber part and the metal sleve on the inside and it looks like a washer is on the spinle after the bushing does this whole section come off?

A much hotter torch. When I had it done years ago on a truck, the guy used oxy/acetylene.

YOu try bigshoe's method?

Just reuse them if they're in decent shape. I couldn't get one or two sleeves off either, so I just cleaned them up and slid the new bushings on.

I just used propane and a big flathead. Took forever. We used a torch for DocP's way back when. Destroyed the stock arm Big Grin

Also try various sized hammers, cement blocks, vice grips, lead pipe...
