So my hardbody has developed an idle problem. At idle it's stumbling around and missing. It's okay driving, but at stop signs/lights, it's got the rough idle and shakes around pretty good. Kind of sounds like a popcorn maker.

I cleaned and reoiled the air filter, and also put another MAFS on. The sensor wires themselves looked fairly clean when I inspected them, so I left them alone. After that was back together, started it up, but same results.

There's brand new NGK plugs+ wires on it and I just read the codes.

Just making sure:

5 red flashes
5 green flashes

Means code 55? If so, then that is the "No malfunction" code.

Any ideas?

More than likely a vacuum leak somewhere.

That, or:

- EGR valve sticking
- bad injector (doubtful)
- bad plug or wire
- low fuel pressure
- bad O2 sensor
- clogged IACV

I would pull the plugs and look for one that's dirtier than the others. You might have a bad plug or wire, even though they are new. It happens. Wink

How's the cap and rotor?

Did you swap out your cams? Sounds good. lol

Based on that video, I'm leaning away from plugs and wires.

I just watched it again...mine did the same thing when the MAF plug got screwed up. Wiggle it around when the engine is running and see if anything changes. It's a common problem. Mine was even "fixed" at the dealer before I owned it, but failed again a few years later.

K4AL called it.

Was a vacuum leak. One of the hoses going into the charcoal canister somehow wiggled off the canister. As soon as I plugged the hose with my thumb, it purred like a kitten.

Kind of mixed feelings, glad it's fixed, but also feeling like a dumbaxe since it was pretty obvious! Big Grin

Thanks boys.
