first off, i'm sorry if this has been discussed before, but i didn't see any prior discussions on it.
so my older brother and i are planning on building a bull bar for the truck. i'm not necesarily looking to mount a winch to it or anything, but i would like to know that if i run into something i won't be bending/breaking anything on the truck. i really don't like the idea of drilling into the frame or bumper unless it's absolutely necesary, so using a set of holes that are already in the frame is preferred. crawling around underneath the bumper, i found two pairs of holes on either side of the frame. the pair on the passenger's side is used to mount the tow hook. these are definitely strong enough mounting points, but i guess i'm wondering if they are the easiest/best points to be using. where have you guys mounted some of your custom bull bars in the past? thanks for the input, she's a '93 King Cab KA24E 4x4 |

Those are the main point to which the arb and other bumpers mount up to. plenty strong enough to handle a bumper. My trucks frame is a little tweaked. I was only able to get my arb to mount up to the 4 bolts where the stock tow hook is. I also have a few tack welds. Pretty much 4 bolts holding my winch and bumper. 1995 KC XE-V6 4x4. |
