It can't be that hard, just remove the Rfront wheel and go at it. Oil filter and alternator might be crowding you, tho.

I've never replaced one. I can imagine the worst thing happening would be that it breaks off w/ the threaded part still screwed in.

Just go easy.

I think so. It's just the time interval before oil pressure comes up on the hydraulic timing chain tensioner. The chain rattles around and makes noise. DEfinately don't rev the engine.

I usually baby my truck for two miles or more before I put my foot in it, and really bring up the rev's.

I just replaced mine not to long ago. It was a tight fit to get it replaced. Just take your time.
I believe it takes a special tool but I didnt have it so I used a pair of Sears robo pliers.

The rattle you hear is the normal Nissan rattle. The other normal Nissan rattle is the lifters when they get near to being adjusted.

I have an '89 Nissan Hardbody King Cab with a Chevy truck/Blazer 4" suspension lift and 3" body lift. It will soon have a TBI 350, SM-465 4 speed trans and 208 T-case rounded off with 39" tires.

Nissan 4cyls have a light tick tick at start up. It's the hydraulic lifters. Heaver weight oil will make the sound go away.
