Hello everyone... I have a million questions but I'll start with this one. I have a 86 hardbody w/ a 6" lift, 35x12.5x15 tires, it has a toyota front diff and the stock rear diff. I would like to put in f/r diffs that I don't have to worry about breaking. Any suggestions?

Check out "skidplate alley". MOst SAS's are done w/ D44's , fromWaggy's, and a few Ford 9"'s.
Go easy on that skinny peddle until you change. I would think 35's kinda stressful on your front axle.

Your rear might not be a problem at all.

Got an axle code from the driver'side door jamb? Do yo uknow what the ratio is?

CA43 is the axle code, the stress on the axles is my concern. I read that 9" axles out of a 80's bronco would work

Looks like you have 4.375 gearing, which isn't much w/ those big shoes you got.

I would post over in Skidplate alley regarding axle swaps, if that's really in your future. Until then, go easy on the skinny pedal and welcome to the board smiley41

Yeah, I live in the mountains and as soon as I start pulling a grade it falls on it's face. Thanks for the input and the welcome!

your running 35" tires on stock suspension. You must be very careful with what you do.

ok you've got a Toyota straight axle. Toyota axles are very good units. Throw some long fields in the front and be done with it. Then install a Detroit and full high steering.

Lock the back and re-gear it to match the front. If you want shafts out back you will have to have a place custom cut them(expensive).

Tell us what you want the truck to do.
