Hi guys

I just bought a 1995 V6 hardbody. It's got 150k, and the owner (a kid) didn't know if the timing belt had been changed. I'm gonna guess not, but is there a quick way to check? I know some mechanics slap a sticker on the underside of the hood, etc., but I couldn't find anything. I suppose you don't really know until you can physically see it...

Are there any all-inclusive kits that you guys have used for timing belt changes? I'm looking for the belt, idler, pulley, etc. plus the water pump, bearings, gaskets, the works. I know newer model cars have them. I don't want to forget anything - I'm gonna have my mechanic do it because I've never done it and don't have a garage or the time to spend learning how, although that would be cool to do.

I've gone through the truck and replaced all the easy(ier) stuff like the plugs(#6 I hate you), air and fuel filters, oil/filter etc.

Thanks!

-Zan

There are some kits out there (eBay) but I would not use them unless it was an absolute last resort. I would head down to NAPA and tell them what you are doing. They should make sure you dont forget anything, they will probably make sure you leave with stuff you might not need lol

Heres a list for you. You might not need some of this stuff, and you might need something not on the list. No guarantees.

timing belt
tensioner and stud...OEM
water pump (will come with gaskets)
thermostat
small 90* hose
short 4 inch hose from thermostat to suction tube
both upper radiator hoses
lower radiator hose
antifreeze
sealant (for the water pump and front covers)

If I think of more, Ill come back and post again.

smiley49 to the board.

Here's a list of everything in a timing kit. http://www.courtesyparts.com has a kit up 93-model year. The belts changed from square splines to round splines.

I just recently get everything together for my timing job. I was able to buy the belt and tensioner together. Everything I had to buy separate. a good aftermarket parts store is www.rockauto.com. If you want OEM go with abc Nissan, ask for the N4W discount.

Timing belt(1)
Timing belt tensioner(1)
Tensioner spring(1)
Tensioner stud(1)
Front crankshaft oil seal(1)

Thanks guys, that helps a lot! I'd hate to miss something. I'm sure it happens pretty often.
