I just bought a 96 4cyl, 4x4, 5spd, hardbody. It has a vibration from 2500RPM to 3000RPM. I do know the timing chain needs to be replaced bc it's worn. The carrier bearing is new. It happens at certain rpm's so it's not driveshaft back anyway. I have searched the archives and didn't see anything related. Can someone help me out on where to look? Thanks for the advice
Likely to be a worn out tranny or engine mount going metal-to-metal. Stick a pry bar under each mount, starting with the tranny, and pry upward to see if the rubber is broken.
I have the reciept for the new clutch, he did 15k ago. I do know there is ATF in the manual transmission. I will changing that out this weekend. I am pulling the engine out this weekend to do the oil pan gasket, resurface the head and put a new timing chain kit in it, still debating on putting new rings in it. I have read about the tranny TSB from nissan, Do they swap trans cases for free if it hasn't been done already?

Finally rebuilt the engine and tranny and put them back in. Trans was fine and didn't need anything. The vibration was caused by the two top trans to engine bolts, someone obviously forgot to tighten them. replaced old bolts with new ones and all is fine.
