I just got a 94 Nissan Hardbody 4wd. It's not in the greatest shape but it's a great truck. I'm just curious as to what some simple mods are that I could do to beef the look up. It has BFGoodrich 31's on it right now but the tread's low. I think a new set of rims and tires will set it off. Currently the tires on it rub when I turn sharp. Would a negative offset rim do the trick? And what do I need to do to the suspension to get to 33x12.50? Thanks for the help. If pics will help let me know and I'll post them.

Backspacing is critical for tire clearance. 4.5-5" is optimal for fitting big tires with minimal lift.

As for suspension lifts, etc, there are several 3" kits available - all lift on the principle of a torsion bar crank and new upper control arms to correct the ball joint angle. Rears are typically lifted with add-a-leaves and longer shackles. If you use AAL's, go with a 2 or 3 leaf AAL and avoid the short single leaf AALs, as those raise hell with your other leaves and can cause them to break.

Beyond this, start reading up in the different forums here, specifically this one and Skidplate Alley. You'll learn a lot about your truck that way.

33x12.50s on stock offset rims will clear with some minor fender trimming and a body lift and a mild torsion bar crank, though 33x10.50s would be a better choice for that configuration. I'd recommend doing a suspension + body lift though to gain some additional clearance under the front end.

You WILL have to consider steering upgrades once you go to 33s. No way around it other than to replace the stock components at an alarming rate.
