Sometimes when I go to start my truck all I get is a grinding sound. It is not the starter grind on the flywheel, it sound like a relay that won't energize. I changed the clutch relay under the hood on the passenger side, but that didn't help. Does anyone have any ideas. I didn't think it was the starter because when it goes out it usually won't make any noise.

There is also a starter relay under the hood that is prone to failure on these trucks.

edit: nevermind, it looks like its just the one interlock relay that you already changed.

i had this prob on my 94 5 speed v6 4x4. i fixed it with some zip ties on the key cylinder at the steering column. too much play in it and things werent working right but they are all fine now.

I think it is my ignition switch too. Where did you put the zip ties on yours? If I need a new one, can they be keyed to use the key I have now?
