The ABS light just popped on in my 95 sev6. I'm pretty sure on my truck the abs is only in the rear, correct?

Does the abs light come on for problems only with the rear drums, or anything in the brake system? I'm trying to isolate the problem of where to search first. I redid the drums about 2 months ago, and just finish up the front brakes about a week ago. Everything feels great on the truck and it doesnt feel like i have any sticking brakes...?

TIA, Gendy

Check your abs sensor at your rear axle. If the sensor is broken or the wires are torn off the abs light will always be on.

Yes you only have abs in the back two wheels. My abs light is always on because I’ve torn the wires from the rear abs sensor on the axle. In my case it’s not repairable

Good point, i'll check the tail/brake lights.

AS for the sensor on the rear axle i'll double check that too, but as i havent done any off roading i cant imagine that was comprimised..

I figured it had something to do with my brake job because it came on the next day after i finished the front brakes.

Does anybody have a picture of the abs diagnostic connector to test the code? I was trying to find it in the cab according to haines but its very vague and couldnt find any 6 pronged connectors under the dash?

sometimes the connector is tucked up under the dash just left of the steering column, you may need to remove the plastic below the column to see better, ground the 2 pins that it tells you together and it will flash the code on the dash light. as said before most common problem is the the connector or wiring is dirty, then its the sensor in the 3rd member then the brain.

I jumped the connector there, and got the flashes on the dash:

It was one long flash (1 sec) and 8 short flashes.

So is that the code 9 for the rear sensor? I know with other manufacturers a long flash like that would indicate the tens position, but there is no code 18 i know of so it must be the 9?

Quick question. (Don't mean to postjack)

Is it only on the Hardbodies that the ABS is in the rear only? I ask because when I got into my accident the ABS light came on and only the front axle was damaged.

I didn't have any kind of front abs (that I noticed) when I did my SAS. I thought I had rear only.

I had no idea there was a diagnostic port. Awesome.

It might be a 9, or 8, or 18 Big Grin I'll look it up in the FSM tonight.
