A little problem with my '96 HB - sometimes, when I go to start it, I turn the key and there is NOTHING. All lights go out, interior & dash. I turn it off. Then, I had a loose battery cable, so I pulled it off and reattached. Then, the truck turns right over. I have tightened the cable since then, but this still happened 2X yesterday. Any ideas? Thanks in advance!

Maybe the clamps are corroded- they can be tight but still have high resistance if you don't clean them and the posts.

How old is the battery? What's it's resting votage?

When you turn the key and release do the lights come back on or do they stay out?

- battery is not old - already had it checked and they said it was ok

- the lights stay out, until I pull the battery terminal and reconnect.

You only pulled one? Just the ground or the positive? Have you cleaned both? are they original cables?

DEFINITELY WILL CLEAN THEM - what is the best cleaner to use? I know to brush the posts, but what about the wires?

the fact that removal/ install of one of the terminals solves the problem( for awhile)may just be coincidental. hard to say exactly w/o starting to eliminate some of the variables.

start cleaniing Pee water works fine on batery and cable deposits, but I would advise making up new cables w/ good size welding cable and marine battery clamps.

You may also have an issue w/ a relay- check out the following thread.
