I stalled on a hill on the weekend and the truck wouldn't start up and I had to roll start it in reverse.

It wouldn't start again later again so I just iwggled the battery wires and made sure clips were clipped together etc.

Since then I have noticed occasionally the first time I turn the key in the igntition it doesn't fire, so I have to turn it off then re-try before it starts.

This was happening six months ago and I had the starter solenoid replaced and it worked fine until now.

What zGarbacho said and the battery terminals are corroded. Clean them up w/ some baking soda after you remove the terminal clamps.. Might want to check the cables, too, and the groiund wire,,, and the hot wire to(from) the alternator.

Put the battery on a charger. See if it takes a charge and report back smiley8 w/ the voltage after charging. It shoud get over 13volts... after it's taken off the charger( if the battery is good) the voltage should settle out between 12.5 and 13 volts.

easy way to test the starter is to tap on it with a hammer or wrench, if it turns over after that it the starter hanging up, I know this thread is 2 mos old, also as check the ground cable for mud and gunk, this will cause a bad connection.
