Review:

I had a Dynomax Super Turbo Muffler Part # 17730 2" inlet 2" outlet installed on my 1994 KC KA24E Hardbody 4x4. I am running 31 tires.

The muffler was $32 from http://store.summitracing.com/ Installation with new 2" catback pipes along with clamps and some new brackets was $115. I also ditched the resonator.

I chose this muffler because it matched the powertech index of the Dynomax Super Turbo Application for Nissans Part # 17783.

The Muffler was also $32 and in stock as oppossed to a 2 week wait for the $50 Nissan application.

The new exhaust sounds good. I was a little worried that it might be a little too loud. It is just a little louder than stock.

The extra sound doesn't sound ricey at all. A little deeper than stock with just enough sound to let you know what the engine is doing.

Very quiet while cruising and at highway speeds 55-75 mph.

There seems like a little gain accross the entire powerband even at the low end.

The truck seems to have a little more pull at lower rpms with out lugging the engine.

For example I usually shift from 3rd to 4th at 40 mph but, for example say you where cruising in 4th and traffic slowed you down to 35 mph or so the truck still pulls in 4th gear.

While with the stock muffler it would lug the truck a little and require a downshift to 3rd.

It also seems a little easier to spin those 31's now too.

Offroad on the beach the truck seems like it has some more power as well. Starts on soft sand(tire pressure at 12 psi) in 1st gear are a little easier. It also pulls better in 2nd gear as well once I am already moving.

After reading some of the nightmare stories about loss of low end from running larger pipes or , systems that are too loud from straight through design mufflers I am happy how the system turned out.

Gas milege seems unchanged at around 19-20 mpg(not correcting the speedo to account for the jump from 235's to 31's)

The Dynomax Super Turbos also come with a limited lifetime warranty now as well hard to go wrong with them. Not bad for a $32 dollar muffler costing a 1/3rd of some performance mufflers.

A nice inexpensive mod for a worn out factory muffler. big grin

Nice review, bro. I have an older Dynomax setup on my truck that's going to need replacement and have been thinking about the same muffler. It's good to hear about your experience with it.

Thanks,

Yeah just wanted to relate my good experience with the Dynomax.

Sometimes people end up going with the wrong application for their truck and are not happy with the results.

Either loss of lowend or unbearable loud or both.

If any one has followed Placenta's(from the AC board) quest for the perfect exhaust when he owned his hardbody you'll know what I am talking about. smile

After a couple of systems he finally got it dialed in with 2" tubing and a 2" inlet outlet muffler. smile

I dont have any experience with the flowmasters.

My Gas mileage didn't really change with the Super Turbo muffler.

I almost went with the new 60 series

"The 60 Series™ Performance Import muffler is designed specifically to bring Flowmaster performance to smaller cars and trucks with small displacement 4- and 6-cylinder engines.

All 60 Series™ mufflers feature Delta Flow® technology for increased torque and horsepower and reduced interior resonance. When fitted with a standard tailpipe, the 60 Series™ produces a mellow sound.

A larger diameter tailpipe will create a deeper tone both inside and outside the vehicle."

From flowmaster site http://www.flowmastermufflers.com/web10/SePerfMuff7.html

A bunch of people over on the AC board seem to be happy with the flowmasters. I dont know if any one has tried the new 60 series application though.

Something to maybe check out.
