I just purchase a 2001 X 4x4, and want to know what is the tallest tire I can put on it without any body or spring lifting? Also please give me recommendations for a tire spec for sand & mud off road conditions. I also have to drive it on pavement (bummer!).

any 31x10.50/15 all terrain tire should suit your needs provided you keep stock rims. There might be a tiny bit of rub on the front mudflaps, but these are trimmed easily with a hacksaw or jigsaw.

Thanks Desert Rat. If I want to go with lager tires, say 33's do I need a suspension lift, a body lift, or both?

You'll need both lifts and some trimming to clear 33's. Search the forums here...there's been lots of info over the past couple years.

32's are your biggest tire without the body lift, and you need a bit of trimming with those, including the mud flaps.

Meh.

Thanks Stone. When you say trimming, that doesn't include any metal does it? Also, are you saying I DO need a suspension lift for this size tire?

Yes, you'll want to lift for 32's. Most trimming will be plastic, but you may find yourself needitg to trim a little bit of fender back at the rear of the front fender opening.

Huh? Nothing but plastic needs to be trimmed for 32s or even 33x10.50s.
