if any one out there has anymore answers about sqeaky breaks i would appreciate it. i have about 10,950 miles on my Nissan Xterra se every time the truck sits for a while the front breaks sqeak it's starting to piss me off.the dealership say they can not fix it. I reported it to Nissan Consumer Affairs they are looking into it.I had Barberino Nissan look at it they rotated the rotors, breaks still squeak are there any Nissan breaks that dont squeak.
I would direct a strong spray of water at the rotors and calipers and spin the wheel at the same time. Then go out and stop - hard- several times. Dirty glazed pads/rotors can cause it. I got it too.

Wow! Now you are going to make me feel bad. My brakes squeak when applied after sitting for extended periods of time (overnight, work, etc). It is usually caused by a slight rusting of the rotor surface area. Do I get worked up about it? No way. It usally is gone by the second application of the brakes. Of course, sometimes its hard to hear it over the squeaking of the leaf springs, or maybe its the dirt in the body mounts that squeak when braking, or that little chirp, chirp chirp that occurs when I drive through water... Nissan is probably thankful my warranty time is gone, eh? My suggestion is to relax. If it goes away and only does it one time, it is simply a metallic brake pad against a metal rotor. They are going to make noise. Otherwise replace the pads with the new carbon fiber ones and it will help a lot.
A squeek is caused by a vibration. Either two surfaces rubbing toghter or debris. Since your xterra (I assume) has factory pads they are semi metalic. Which in cold weather get hard. When the brakes are first applied the friction is like when you through a rock to make it skip across the water. The surfaces are like rubbing two pieces of glass together. As they warm up the friction is like rubbing 800 grit together. Two possibilities here-make sure the dealer has a nice cross cut on the rotors and lubes the back of the pads or go to a softer pad inwhich that would mean aftermarket. I will look for any tsb's today.

MY TRUCK IS A 2003 NISSAN XTERRA SE.IT'S A 4 WHEEL DRIVE,AND THE BREAKS SQEAK WHEN I FIRST GET INTO IT SAY LIKE WHEN IT SITS OVERNIGHT BUT LATELY IT'S BEEN DOING MORE OFTEN AS THE DAY GOES ON..DO YOU KNOW IF THERE ARE ANY BREAKS YOU CAN HAVE PUT ON THAT DON'T SQUEAK
There is no tsb concerning your xterra. The condition is considered to be normal by Nissan. You can go with a softer pad but they will not last as long.
