Pretty sure my rotor(s) are warped. I just changed my pads on a vehicle that has only 15k miles and now this, WTF? Anyone know if warranty will cover this?

rotors are considered a wear item, so usually not. If you're going through pads in 15k miles, you're relatively aggressive on the brakes, which would explain the warped rotors.

Yea the rotors are a wear Item usually not warranted. I would try to push the factory warranty anyways.
Look on the bright side. Rotors are easy to replace on a Nissan truck. Pretty rare to warp the rotors in 15K. 1995 KC XE-V6 4x4. |

Pads are a wear item, but rotors shouldn't be. I'd give it a shot.

Ive been fighting nissan on rotors for my quest...IMO nissan used a crappy supplier for rotors. Look up the titan/quest/infinity rotor problems on the internet and you'll find all kinds of forums with posts on this. The rotors on my 05 Quest warpped after 8k miles (its not my driving Ive never had to have a rotor turned on anything Ive ever owned)I Had them turned 3 times before I had 30k and by then the thinkness was less then allowable so Nissan replaced the rotors. They also put some new compound pads on it that are supposed to help the the rotors. I had to get all up in Nissan USAs grill and they finally broke down and did the work plus offered a gold prefered warranty for 100k. I beleive they do warrany rotors for 12k so you might just be out of luck.
Nissan USA number 1.800.647.7261 This has not been the only problems with my van, Ive had trim falling off on the free way, rear hatch opening while driving, sliding doors sound like they are coming off, 2 diffeent cd players ate cds, fuel pump went out, head lights are already hazzy(1 year old), the rotor thing...its been a nightmare and this may well be the last nissan I ever buy. Hope it works out for you and good luck. Update...The dealer is going to replace the rotors since they are indeed warped. Funny, I just changed the warn OEM pads, installed Raybestos pads then my rotors warped.
Think it had something to do with aftermarket pads?? Anyway, the service rep I was dealing with here in Hawaii is this very nice older Hawaiian lady with lots of Aloha. She did say that if I didnt replace the pads again back to OEM, they wouldn't warranty the rotors again. I said no problem, and told her to order the brake pads at $100. I know this is more than what I'd pay from another vendor but I thought since she was cool to me by pushing for warranty coverage, that I'd be cool to her and let them make a few bucks on the pads. So basically all I'm paying for is pads, no labor with new rotors. ============================== 1995 HB XEV6 4x4, AC Susp. my personal experience:
no warping, except for the original set . I've cryo'd 2 sets of rotors since then ,and am a cali driver The latest set have been in for about 20K and show no signs of warping. WHen I bought the truck new, I had the rotors pulsing by 5000 miles, lived w/ it until 60K or so, when I put in new OEM rotors that I had cryo'd. Never any signs of warping/pulsing until replaced around 210K miles, when I replaced w/ some cryo treated Brembo discs. ..................... "Climate change is no longer science. It's politics... Never had that problem on a Nissan. I did just replace the rotors on my Camaro though. They were warped when I bought it. The downside was when I pulled it apart, I found a leaky caliper too, so EVERYTHING in front is new now.
On the other hand, it's American, and Autozone had all the parts, including ceramic pads. For Nissans, I always stick with OEM parts. With the discounts we can get, they end up being as cheap or cheaper than the parts store stuff anyways. The front pads for my Xterra when I replaced them were about $60 if I recall correctly. 1998 Frontier 4x4, 2002 Xterra 4x4, and Z28 street rocket Pass here and go on. Me either I've never had any problems with Nissan rotors. At 84K I replaced the rotors on my truck. Still had lots of life left in the rotors.
I replaced the rotors because I had to take them our for other purposes. I don’t like putting old stuff back on. I always replace with new if I can. Makes life easier later down the road. 1995 KC XE-V6 4x4. |
