I want advice on what would be a good lift for a 2002 supercharged v6 xe. Would like to be close to a 3 inch if possible. Please E-mail if you have any helpful info.

Visit our links page here.

You'll find links to Spencer Low Racing, Calmini, and AC. All three companies package an A-arm lift for your truck. Prices vary somewhat, but all lifts use the same basic principle to lift the truck 2.5-3"

I run the AC lift myself and have had good luck with it. I have worn out some of the A-arm bushings however. I have a friend running the Calmini stetup and he's been happy with that as well. Good luck and if you have more specific questions, feel free to post them here and we'll get them answered for you.

Just an FYI..

There have been reported problems with the AC lift as well as the SLR lift concerning getting your truck into alignment. This does not effect all vehicles that have their lifts but does effect enough of them that you should know about it.

I personally have had problems with the AC lift on my Xterra and I had to switch to Calmini UCA's to fix my alignment problem. With the SLR I have only heard accounts from others.

You might also check out the fourms on http://www.xterraownersclub.com for other opinions.

Happy shopping..

I have the SLR 3 leaf AAL in the rear and last night installed the Calmini UCA's! You can mix and match! My friend ChuckH from AF and XOC has the same combination for three months and his works great! big grin

I'm currently running the SLR UCA's. Granted, the shop I took it to for the alignment couldn't get it into spec. (their computer alignment machine could only do exact factory specs, not the new ones supplied by SLR) so I am still fiddling with it a bit. Other than that, they're working great.

Also installed SWA T-bars at the same time.... Needless to say, I'm still tweaking them as well. Also installed AAL's and the SLR 2" shackles.

Cheers,
JD

I haven't seen a lift yet (CALMINI, A/C, Spencer, or Fabtec), that hasn’t solved the problems associated with center-link and tie-rod failure without buying steering upgrades. CALMINI and Spencer have steering upgrades but at an added cost.

Consider just getting aftermarket torsion bars up front and the add-a-leaf in the rear. This is all I have and it has allowed me to fit 32" (Goodyear MT/Rs). The torsion bar lift does increase the angle on the steering but not to the degree that others have had with the upper-a-arm lifts.

Others may say, “You’re limiting your front wheel travel without the upper-a-arms”. Well considering that LAX of SCCX made it up "The Wall" (first time) at GOX3 without a lift on 31" A/Ts should say something wink Nobody made it up as easily that day. Even those with lockers, and lifts seemed to struggle a bit.

In short… When you buy a lift, ensure you are ready to buy the steering upgrades in the short future.

Snoopy is absolutely right. Steering failures are sure to follow any lift. They'll also follow without lift and simply adding wheels with more offset.

On the other hand, if you can swing the steering upgrades too, you can give your truck a whole new attitude.

2002 S/C Xterra 3" suspension lift + 3" body lift -> http://www.hawaiianhardbody.com/xterra.html

Absolutely no alignment problems with the AC lift. If you want maximum lift, look into Ultra low profile bumpstops to crank the torsion bars up more. But like everyone have said here, steering issues are iminent.

imacsae,

I love that pic of your truck (I just noticed the VADERX decal...I remember early pics of it on another board and my how it's grown!!}. No matter what people say how effective a snorkel is or isn't on an Xterra in the end it looks BAD-ASS!!

Best regards,

Looks good, but the tire/wheel combination doesn't look right....Needs bigger meats and rims with more offset to really look good. Of course rims like that will eat centerlinks, but what else is new.....
