Looking at these two suspensions:
Calmini 3" Xterra lift

and

AC's Xterra lift

Anyone with experiences with either? Pros/Cons/etc?

If you aren't already on there, go over to www.xterrafirma.com and find TJ.

He'll talk your ear off about the different suspension set ups for the X's. All good info, not just blah blah blah...

I currently have the AC 3" on my X, and it's a big improvement over stock. The only difference was that I went to the AAL because I had already done a PML using SLR shackles, so I just added the AAL into the equation, and everything worked out great.

Because I can, that's why...

Both kits accomplish the same task.

Do opt for multi leaf AALs. Calmini's is 2 leaf, and AC's is 3. Don't get the single short AAL, or you'll be replacing broken leaves in time.

Also, get a steering kit. The lift puts considerable additional stress on the stock steering and it won't last long after it's lifted.

The cheapest option there is the Hoohaa centerlink - see the banner ad on this site.

Other options exist from Calmini, Total Chaos, and others.

I personally have heard of bad stuff off of a/c, but they have treated me well with what i ordered. but again, I have yet to hear anything negative about calmini. I'd go with them.

Hands down calmini sells beefier components. Depends on funds and how much you want to buy.

If I was me I would but the calmini kit.

go with AC. the calmini shocks are garbage and their customer service is about the worst you will ever experience. I among with others in my local club have had horrible experiences with being lied to by them, denied warranty for items, or have been given the run around from months to even years waiting on items. my steering system from them is a complete piece of garbage since the bushings are beyond shot. they kept telling me they were have bushing kits made for about 5 months. they eventually admitted that they didn't really have any plans to produce any and would probably never have them. Since the bushings are wear items and will need to be replaced in time the owners of the calmini setup are SOL unless they mod the setup for spherical bearings like I am.

Haha... both sides of the fence here is greener, apparently.

He went with the AC lift, and I will probably be installing it next weekend. Wink

At least Calmini sent me the right parts, AC sent me the wrong stuff more than once and told me something was wrong becasue they insisted it was right.

Ok lets keep things nice.

I've ordered plenty of merchandise from both companies. Each have their strengths and weakness.

A/c has good customer service. Good prices on all name brand stuff. However, their in house manufactured stuff is not as beefier as calmini's.

Calmini used to have crappy customer service. Now their customer service is getting better. Their shipping used to be fast. Now their shipping is slow.

Warranty is only as good as the paper it's written on. Most cases the warranty depends on how loyal the vendor is to it's customers.
