400 foot plunge
"Sonoma -- When Margarite Durham missed a turn on Highway 1 and plunged over a cliff, her ordeal was just beginning.

The 42-year-old Novato resident's sport utility vehicle tumbled 400 feet from the roadway just south of Fort Ross in Sonoma County before landing on a ledge. Durham crawled to an inaccessible strip of beach, and waited.

It took 48 hours, but Durham finally was spotted Thursday afternoon and lifted to safety by a sheriff's department helicopter. She had spent two nights on the beach, barefoot, wearing only a yellow T-shirt and jeans, with no water to drink and nothing to eat.

"I wanted to live," Durham said Friday from her bed at Santa Rosa's Memorial Hospital, where she was recovering from a dislocated shoulder and several bruises. "I wanted to keep moving so I could get help as quickly as possible."

"I'm very amazed that she is still alive," said her husband of 20 years, Jim Durham. (big snip)..."

I dont think she even broke any bones- just lots of bruises from the fun ride down.
