Have a 2002 Exterra and had close to full tank then all of sudden gage says empty and the symbol for needing gas lit up. Drove now for a week and refilled still will not register any fuel in tank . Where do I start??? I checked all fuses I think. This Exterra is only 2 weeks old for me so I am a newbee. Thanks guys

That's a tough one. I think Nissan had a recall/ service bulletin about some external contacts on the fuelpump/sender corroding( a couple years back). Your truck is so new, but being it's east coast, it could be the problem. i would want a pro diagnosis on this, tho, before dropping the tank and pulling the pump/sender for a look.

But if you're up for it, that's where I would look first.

I would try to talk a dealership into digging up the recall data, tho, and getting them to fix it.

I've been using my odometer for a gas gauge since getting strapped up the sunflower mine waterfall during AZ Run V put a two gallon dent in my tank Wink

I remember Robin on AZ V (I think that's the one), came off an obsticle and put a nice dent in his tank (due to my awesome spotting capabilities) Dork

I believe he broke a sensor in the fuel pump or pickup tube or something, causing the empty tank issue.

Speaking of the devil.

Today I was driving on the interstate and all of the sudden my gas gauge went from half tank to empty. Then 5 minutes later the gauge goes back to half tank. I pulled into the next rest stop and checked for leaks. Could not find any.

I went to Nissan dealer and they said there is a recall for 200 to 2003. So they are suppose to fix it in a couple weeks. Now what do you think 200 miles in town full tank and 250 on highway sound safe for a 2002 se all factory.

That's exactly what to get on my 95HB. I'm a 3.0. I'll say you should be safe with those miles. Just watch how meany gallons you are putting in.
