hey there..

I use Castrol GTX dino oil in my Pathfinder.. synthetics are always better, just cost a little more.

theres lots of good solid axle info available on the board here.. check the Skidplate Alley forum area for more information, photos, and whatnot.

Welcome to one of the best groups your going to find. I've been driving Datsun/Nissans for 20 years and have three at the minute.

... I have seen many long threads on the subject of oil & filters on a lot of forums. There is a lot of ‘hear-say’ and ‘Joe Blow’ said Blah Blah garbage. Seems a lot of the people and my mechanic friends like Castrol. Castrol is a good oil but I wouldn’t use it because… Castrol lied about their applications rating and had to be sued by API. It's still a good oil.

... I have used some Valvoline and think it is a top class oil. I have used more Pennzoil than any other brand over the years. With my driving habits Pennzoil has worked very well for the last 50 years and I am presently maintaining five running vehicles plus my 18 hp tractor. I did have a sludge problem with Q-state, Havoline and Phillips Trop-Artic but that was long ago and far away and may not have been the fault of the oil.

Synthetic Lubricants are fuel efficient, extended life lubricants manufactured from select synthetic base stocks and special purpose additives. These lubricants provide improved overall performance characteristics when compared to conventional petroleum oils

Synthetic Blend Motor Oils are a blend of synthetic fluids and petroleum oils. They are combined to form an all season motor oil that demonstrates many of the performance features of synthetic lubricants.

I use AMsoil synthetic and change at interval of 30,000 miles. I have a dual filter setup that also extends the time between changes.

I use Valvoline Durablend with good results. Good middle of the road blended synthetic.

More important that the brand of oil is ensuring you follow a routine of change intervalls - every 3k miles for most driving ensures there's good oil in the engine all the time.
