Ahhh, interesting! I didn't know that it stayed engaged in reverse as long as there's power to it. Cool, good to know!

The first winter I had the truck, I played around in the snow with 4wd engaged, and shortly after the auto hubs exhibited a whizzing/clicking sound - had 'em both replaced under warranty. I'm a little shy with them now.

As much as I like the convenience of auto hubs, I can't help but think they're a little frail, no? I think I'd rather have the instant-on/off of the manual hubs, especially if they're beefier...

Both the autos and the manuals are built by Warn. The autos seem durable, so it really boils down to personal preference. If you don't mind jumping out into the elements to lock in, then manuals are for you.

AND....factory manuals are available.

KBJ and others... Some more info.

These images were all shot with a Canon D30, EF 35mm f/2.0 lens w/Heliopan SH-PMC UV filter and hood. Post-processed using a Mac/Mac OS X and Photoshop, along with Canon's "File Viewer" utility to convert from CRW/RAW format, producing a completely linear workflow, edited in 16-bits, etc. Color corrected, slightly sharpened, scaled and bugged.

The aperture and shutter speed varied from image to image greatly. The camera was set to ISO 400 sensitivity, and the built-in flash was used occasionally. Those can be easily spotted by the bright snowflakes caught in the air, like that image above.

Hope this helps!

Thanks a lot, guys! Smile

Tomorrow, Friday - looks like another "1-6 inches" of snow. That is, 1-3" is forecast, but if it's like last time... 3-6" would be more accurate, heh.

I've been doing photography for the last twenty years or so... Took a brief break in between and recently got very into it again, having gone digital. About a year and a month ago I finally did it! Smile Can't say I've gone back to film since... Don't miss it.

All I can say is, I gotta woody seeing all of that snow. I miss that from when I lived in Boston.

I was completely jealous seeing your X in the powder in the HD parking lot having fun while it's been virtually bone dry down here.

Rock on man! Keep the rubber side down and the bright side up!
