So what's the best solution guys? I have the stock Xterra leafs with Rancho AAL in the rear (yeah talk about trouble). Beside already sagging, I am 100% sure as soon as I start driving (after the SAS is done), it will be an 'S'. So, what is the best solution to axle wrap? Traction bar? better spring?
Thanks for the tip Riad |

Better springs. Get some custom made or adapt maybe some full size domestic pickup springs in there.
The 3pack would help....You gotta figure though that the back will be about 9" over stock height with the AAL's and a SOA conversion. Not sure if you want it that tall. 1998 Frontier 4x4, 2002 Xterra 4x4, and Z28 street rocket Pass here and go on. You're on the road to heaven - Kerouac |

Rather than putting in stiffer springs, you could install an axle ladder bar. it wont hurt flex and shouldnt impact the clearance under the truck, but it will absolutely eliminate axle wrap. My patrol has one and it works very well.. there is no axle wrap on it at all using the soft patrol springs with the SOA and Ford 302 v8 torque.
I am looking into the same thing on my big Ford F250, as the rear axle wraps up like crazy. Broke the tires loose on the highway the other day by accident due to the wrap (or mabye just all the power it makes.. i dunno). |

I've seen his X in person, the front is already higher than the SOA rear. Just bouncing the rear you can almost see that axle wrap is going to be a big problem. I'd say a traction bar of some sort too, but either bring the front down or bring the rear up first.

Yep. It was at a level postion at the beginning. Actually, come to think of it, The front was set to be that high based on the rear height. If you look at this picture, although you can't see the front, you will see what I am talking about. Traction bar is definitely the most logical option but you are saying if I get stiffer spring, it's not going to work? Beside having the front lowered?

I got rear leaf packs from Rubicon Express for a 5.5" Chorokee lift.I got like 5"s of lift from them no problem. Mine were used and painted with por 15. I had to move the spring mounts back about 2"s on the frame. The height of the vehicle is different when you have a particular part of the frame supported by something other than just sitting on the front suspension and tires. In other words, it will sit differently when you have it on all four wheels. I would just build it with what you have, and when it is sitting on the ground, make adjustments. I had to cut and re-weld the mounts several times. Of course my truck is built with a tape measure on an uneven slanted driveway.
